The Crisis Center offers a six-week faith-based support group that addresses how perpetrators of domestic violence use Biblical scripture to maintain power and control over their partners. The group was created to serve adult clients who self-identify as members of Bible-based churches who experience a misuse of Bible passages by their partners and/or Clergy members in regard to the domestic violence present in their relationships which has facilitated further abusive patterns.
One of the group co-facilitators is a Crisis Center therapist who presents psycho-educational information including what is domestic violence, how domestic violence affects children, safety planning, and legal issues. The second co-facilitator is a Pastor who leads a group study on the Biblical aspects of domestic violence including divorce, forgiveness, headship, redemption and abuse.
The faith-based group is offered at Crisis Center locations for current client and at churches in the community for the general public.
